The Invisibles

July 19, 2018

Amsterdam’s FOAM museum currently presents Samuel Gratacap’s exhibition Les Invisibles – telling the stories of migrants the French photographer encountered in Tunisia, Libya and Italy since 2007.
For over a decade, Samuel Gratacap has been compiling photos, videos and audio recordings to document the stories of migrants he encountered in Southern Europe and North-Africa. Based on their testimonies, the French photographer and LOBA finalist sets out to retrace their paths – creating powerful images that move between fine art and photojournalism. The insights he offers with this wealth of material are more profound and comprehensive than many media reports.

The FOAM museum in Amsterdam now presents a selection of Gratacap’s work, titled Les Invisibles. It is the venue’s third exhibition on the theme of migration, following Henk Wildschut’s Calais - From Jungle to City and the showcase SafePassage by Ai Weiwei.
