Araki and the afterlife

Large Araki exhibition: from December 19, 2014 to March 11, 2015, Foam is presenting Ojo Shashu – Photography for the Afterlife: Alluring Hell. The exhibition includes early works by the artist as well as contemporary ones and series never before exhibited in The Netherlands.

Curated in close collaboration with Araki, the balance between life (sex) and death is the common thread running through the carefully considered selection of his works to date.

A particular high-light of the exhibition is the presentation of the till now unpublished series Alluring Hell from the eighties. Araki painted with colours over the originally black and white nude photos, breathing new life into them as a result.
