Avian Protagonists

May 15, 2019

The exhibition ‘The Autumn of Paradise’ by Jean-Luc Mylayne is on display at the Aargauer Kunsthaus from 18 May to 11 August 2019 – marking the French photographer’s first institutional solo show in Switzerland.
For more than forty years, birds in their natural habitat have the primary subject of French photography artist Jean-Luc Mylayne (born 1946). His view of each animal as an individual, rather than a representative of a species, is among the many aspects that distinguish his work.

Mylayne’s meticulous choices regarding lighting, weather conditions and time of year, along with the precise positioning of each subject within the frame, give rise to carefully crafted compositions in which not even the smallest detail is left to chance.

The exhibition Jean-Luc Mylayne. The Autumn of Paradise presents an ensemble of around 40 photographs created in the years from 1979 to 2008.
