    LFI Magazine 05/2005

    • Portfolio: Oskar Barnack Prize 2005: This year, South African Guy Tillim receives the renowned Oskar Barnack Prize for a painful accusation against his city of birth, Johannesburg.

Portfolio: America. In 1931, Fritz Block travelled the USA and returned with a treasure: portraits of people and large cities, of industrial giants and vast landscapes.

Portfolio: Romania. With an inquisitive eye the young photographer gathers remarkable impressions of a world where yesterday is today.

Sensor and Film: Thanks to the Digital Module R, owners of an R8 or R9 can explore the differences between digital and analogue with the same system. LFI did the test.

Fine Art with Inkjet Printer: LFI Academy. Inkjet prints provide photographers with an immense variety of mediums and compete with luxurious lab printouts.

Walter Mandler, Pioneer of Lens Design: Dr Walter Mandler (1922–2005) developed more than 40 lenses for the M and R system. An obituary.

New Leica Accessories: Angle finder for the Leica M. Elpro-Macro lens for the Digilux 2.

Composition in Black and White: LFI Academy. Street photography: when composition channels the banality of everyday life into scenes of photographic impact.
