Unexpected Challenge: The most exciting submissions

It's not so long ago since we put out a call on the LFI.Gallery, for you to participate in our Unexpected Challenge. The context was for you to show us pictures that would confuse our expectations, and that would only makes sense after taking a second, closer look. It didn't matter if the picture was a lucky strike caught in the perfect moment, or a complex, carefully planned scenario: the important thing for us was that the images require closer scrutiny, challenging our traditional ways of seeing and subverting our classic expectations with humour.

Just like with our previous LFI.Gallery initiatives, we are happy to present a small cross section of the numerous submissions received, in the LFI blog. We were often amazed by your visual creativity, so that it was, yet again, a pleasure to go through the selection process. We heartily thank all the users who took part in this Unexpected Challenge.

We can only present a fraction of the diversity of submissions in the blog; so don't worry if your picture didn't make it – you can be sure that each uploaded image is carefully reviewed by our photo editors. You can find an overview of all the submissions here.
