“El Paradiso is a small urban settlement on the Spanish coastline of Costa Blanca. In fact, I shot this entire series within a radius of perhaps only 15 kilometres from El Paradiso.”
“El Paradiso is a small urban settlement on the Spanish coastline of Costa Blanca. Friends of mine live there, and whenever I visit them, the little town becomes my base for photo expeditions in the surrounding area. As it is situated between the coast and the Bernia mountains, the region offers a lot of diversity within a condensed area, both in terms of landscape as well as culturally.

Everything is within arms-reach – from mountain scenery to sea-coast, barren scrublands to bird-net covered orchards, from sleepy small towns shaped by the uneventful lives of their inhabitants all the way to Benidorm, one of the first major Mediterranean tourist resorts.

In fact, I shot this entire series within a radius of perhaps only 15 kilometres from El Paradiso. In my photography, I am more drawn to universal themes, and in this case also to incidental, everyday occurrences, rather than breathtaking scenes.”
