From April 15 to 17, Ragnar Axelsson ran his Faces of the Arctic workshop at the LFI head offices in Hamburg. In individual and group discussions with the Icelandic photographer, each participant put together a portfolio of former and new pieces of work.
From April 15 to 17, Ragnar Axelsson ran his Faces of the Arctic workshop at the LFI head offices in Hamburg. After an initial period on Friday evening getting to know each other and presenting works realized to date, Saturday began with individual talks and followed with the development of series based on former works and new photographs taken over the week-end.

Ragnar Axelsson was born in Iceland in 1958, and trained as a photographer. When he was 18 he became a photographer for the Icelandic newspaper Morgunblaðið. Since then he has been documenting the fate of people and nature in the north. His pictures have been published in Time Magazine, Life, Stern, Geo, Polka and Newsweek, among others. The following books have been published to date: Faces of the North (2004, new edition 2015), Last days of the Arctic (2010) and Behind the Mountains (2013). In 2001 he received a Leica Oskar Barnack Award honourable mention.
