Young boy with tiger

A tiger in the middle of Istanbul! Though Robin Sinha was not in the best of photographic moods on that particular day, he managed to capture this unusual moment in the Balat district.
“The previous day had yielded good light; however, on this particular Tuesday morning in Istanbul things weren’t looking very promising. Inspired by the great Alex Webb, I had become obsessed with contrasting light and shadow. The flat light demotivated me and it was a real effort to leave my hotel in the early hours of the morning. Stumbling across a café in the back streets of Balat, I believed my fortunes might have changed. It's not every day a chained up, imitation tiger presents itself! Delighted by its kitsch appearance, I waited for an interaction. In the distance I noticed a potential character strolling towards my frame. On entering my viewfinder I was relieved to see him look back in curiosity. This is the moment I captured.”
