Macro Challenge – A selection

June 14, 2019

Take a very close look: introducing some of the most interesting macro photographs found in the LFI.Gallery.
Macrophotography is always particularly popular in spring and summer. When the sun nourishes flora and fauna with new life, countless photographers head out into nature, using extreme enlargement to discover new perspectives for well-known elements. With the right macro setting, transformations occur that can be way beyond our imagination: small insects become monstrous creatures, flower pollens resemble alien life-forms, structures dissolve into psychedelic patterns. In addition to a good lens, you need to have a certain sensitivity, patience and an eye for the essential, to be able to access the world of macrophotography.

At the very beginning of spring, we launched the macro challenge, asking users of lfi.gallery to present us with their best close-up pictures. The numerous submissions made it very difficult to choose the best images. Let the curtain now rise on a colourful cross-section that ranges from the fascinating to the seemingly banal. (dar)
