“Mariana was unaware that our project had been published in LFI 8/2014. Though she had seen a previous issue of the magazine that included a single image of her, she didn't know that this time there were four whole pages.
In this day and age, children are used to seeing images on computers, smart phones or tablets; but Mariana loves paper, canvas and blackboards (her whiteboard), so she was very proud of the earlier picture published in LFI.
I told her I had something mysterious to show her that she would love. At first, when she saw the magazine, she didn't get it, and her initial reaction was to complain, “it's not a toy!”; but a few second later, her fingers were itching to find the pictures. Finally she started to read. As she doesn’t speak English she pronounced the words all wrong, but in a funny and gracious way, and with a strong German accent. I've never seen her read like that nor could I imagine why she would read with a German accent (she only speaks Portuguese), as she has no idea that LFI is edited in Germany!”
