HOT HOUSE, Havana, Cuba MATT HUMPHREY
22.04.2015
On walking past an open doorway and stopping to take a photo, I was invited in by this couple. Their home was modest; a ground level triangular-shaped room on the corner of a building at an intersection of 5 roads in Old Havana. They explained that they had to leave their old home as it had deteriorated so badly and was going to fall down. The government had offered them this place soon after. Although modest in size, decor and condition, everything had its place, and well laid out and looked after. Lit by one fluorescent strip bulb and cooled by the fan, he is looking at the cat whilst she smokes a cigarette watching TV. They insisted several times that I was most welcome, should feel at home and could stay whenever I liked.
