Zingst: Autumn of Photography

Share:

Leica Gallery Zingst presents the exhibition ‘Arctic Heroes – Where the World is Melting’ with works by Ragnar Axelsson (RAX); the opening reception takes place on October 1, 2022, from 6 p.m.

For over forty years, the Icelandic photographer has been dedicated to capturing the people, animals and landscapes of the Arctic. The exhibited series – photographed entirely in black and white – takes a poignant look at the fate of sled dogs in Greenland, where the melting ice sheet is irrevocably disrupting the hunters' traditional way of life.

‘Arctic Heroes’ will be on display at Leica Gallery Zingst until December 15, 2022.

Landscapes
Another autumn highlight is Christian Klant's exhibition ‘Landscapes’, which is on show at Zingst’s Max Hünten Haus through to January 9, 2023.

Klant uses the collodion wet-plate process, thereby combining a historic technique with contemporary scenes. This elaborate approach - which involves a large-format camera, as well as a darkroom tent for developing the wet plates on location - requires a great deal of effort, patience and deceleration.
