The ‘Thinking Photography’ DGPh Research Award (€ 3000) was awarded to Dr. Carolin Görgen for her research project Out Here it is Different – The California Camera Club and Community Imagination through Collective Photographic Practices. At the centre of this study is the California Camera Club, an organisation for professional and amateur photographers that was founded in San Francisco in 1890.
The ‘Writing Photography’ DGPh Award for Innovative Publication (€ 1000) went to Stefan Vanthuyne for his interview with photographer and author Stanley Wolukau-Wanambwa. The conversation, which was conducted via Google Docs and bears the title The Paradoxically Perfect and Utterly Imperfect Photobook, revolves around the production and investigation of photo books as an artistic medium.
