The exhibition ‘L’image dans l’image’ with works by Guy Bourdin will be on show at the Campredon Centre d’Art in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue from 6 July to 6 October 2019.

The Campredon Centre d’Art in the Southern-French town of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue presents the showcase ‘L’image dans l’image’ with works by French fashion photographer Guy Bourdin (1928–1991). During his three-decade-long career, Bourdin worked for leading international magazines – including Harper's Bazaar as well as French, Italian and British Vogue – and created advertising campaigns for fashion houses such as Chanel, Issey Miyake and Gianni Versace. The Grand Prix National de la Photographie as well as the Infinity Award count among the numerous awards he received in recognition of his work.

Tireless perfectionism, a penchant for surrealism and a distinctive sense of humour distinguish Bourdin’s unique and groundbreaking style. He was famous for his uncanny ability to transform ordinary elements of everyday life into surreal scenes, imbued with suggestive narratives. His fashion images are provocative and visually disconcerting, with unusual compositions echoing the surrealist aesthetics of artists such as Man Ray.
The showcase ‘L’image dans l’image’ encompasses many of Bourdin’s most influential photographs, including works featuring his favourite model, Nicolle Meyer.
