July 9, 2016

From 10 July to 24 September 2016, Leica Gallery Salzburg presents the exhibition 'On the Road with the West Eastern Divan Orchestra' with photographs by Georges Yammine.
From 10 July to 24 September 2016, the exhibition On the Road with the West Eastern Divan Orchestra by Georges Yammine will be showing at the Leica Gallery in Salzburg. The Lebanon-born photographer is himself a member of the orchestra, which was founded by Daniel Barenboim to bring together young Israeli and Arabian musicians.

Yammine has been part of the project since 1999, both as a violinist and photographer. However, this exhibition does not solely revolve around his concert photography. Many of the 60 images on display are dedicated to an entirely different branch of the music business: the performances of street musicians. Yammine visited 35 cities while on tour with his orchestra. In his free time, he explored each city's busking scene with his Leica? camera.

In 2014, Yammine published the photo book Shining Hope. In the same year, his photographs were shown as part of a major Leica exhibition at Photokina in Cologne.
