'Urban Decorations – Die dekorierte Stadt' (The Decorated City) draws our attention to the array of images we are continuously exposed to within an urban environment. Most of us, however, are far less aware of them than photography artist Max Regenberg (born 1951). The phenomenon of outdoor advertising, large-scale billboards and light boxes, as well as word and text-based presentations within the public space have occupied his interest for the past forty years.

From this vast body of material, the artist has now selected around 85 photographs (many of them previously unpublished) along with documentary items. The exhibition offers insights into Regenberg's unique cerebral-artistic study of the theme, which he has pursued ever since completing his training at an advertising photography studio in Cologne in the 1970s.
