Along with the Project Grant winners, the exhibition also includes selected works by the shortlisted artists Alexandra Baumgartner, Valerio Spada and Robert Voit, which the bank has now integrated into its collection.
As early as 1993, the DZ Bank Art Collection established a project grant for promising artists working with the medium of photography, which was provided until 2003. Last year, the bank marked its 20th anniversary by re-introducing the grant. Every other year, a different seven-strong jury suggests their choice of candidates, who are then invited to submit sample works and project ideas involving the medium of photography, even if only in the widest sense of the word.
43 artists submitted sample works and ideas for the Project Grant 2014, but it was Ulrich Gebert and Andrej Krementschouk who especially stood out to the jury. Each winner receives 1,000 euros per month for the duration of a year, in order to enable them to continue the submitted project.
