Collaboration: the Photographic Collection/SK Stiftung Kultur in Cologne and the Art Museum of Bonn are presenting 'Mit anderen Augen – Das Porträt in der zeitgenössischen Fotografie'.
With the exhibition 'Mit anderen Augen – Das Porträt in der zeitgenössischen Fotografie' (With Other Eyes – the portrait in contemporary photography), the Art Museum of Bonn and the Photographic Collection/SK Stiftung Kultur in Cologne are collaborating on a joint project. The Art Museum will present the common theme from February 25 to May 8, 2016, while it will be on display in Cologne from February 26 to May 29, 2016.

The meaning of portraiture
Portraits represent a central theme in contemporary art – and photography in particular – with constantly evolving ways of formulating visual content. The aesthetic approaches range from documentary style to staged images, from new presentation of iconic visual traditions to a dialogue with aspects of amateur photography.

One theme – two emphasises
The Photographic Collection/SK Stiftung Kultur in Cologne is concentrating on serial portraits following an artistic-documentary approach. At the Art Museum in Bonn the emphasis is on aspects of contemporary, artistic image concepts by artists who live in Germany or have close connections here.
